Trend Micro Internet Security 2007

Trend Micro Internet Security 2007 includes Antivirus, Antispyware, Firewall, Online Fraud Defense, WiFi Protection, Network Control. In the following review we only tested the ability of the antivirus application.

Installation:
The installation begins with a pop-up indicating we were missing a critical Microsoft Service Pack, and didn't explain exactly which one. When clicking on 'update now' we were brought to the Microsoft Windows update page, still not knowing what we needed to get Trend Micro to install. After installing XP Service Pack 2, Trend Micro allowed us to proceed with our installation.

After agreeing the license Trend Micro Internet Security 2007 automatically scans the memory and processes before moving forward with the installation. The program allows Full or Minimum (no firewall) installation, but no custom options. You’re asked if you want to activate "Software Rating Database Service" and "Web Site Filtering Database Service" that check an online database to identify dangerous programs, and websites based on your preferences. They are both selected by default. The installation completes with a reboot.

Configuration:
Trend Micro automatically updates the program, and all virus definition patterns immediately and displays a helpful status bar on it's progress, with an estimated time to completion which we found very helpful.

By default, Real-time monitoring is turned on and lists of scanning scheudles are already setup. Automatic updates are also set to automatic. You also have the option of password protecting Trend Micro Internet Security 2007 so no one else can change the settings and configuration of the program. Trend Micro is one of the only companies we found providing this extra security. Upon launching the control panel, it also offers you tutorials on how to use the program. Clicking on "Learn More" will take you to very explanative video demonstrations on the Trend Micro website.
roceed with our installation.

I purchased Trend-Micro PCillin in the beginning of 06, and I couldn't get it to load in. It kept asking me if I wanted to disable the firewall that was built in to my Win XP Pro. It wouldn't install, and I refuse to replace my Win XP Pro built in firewall, so, it was a waste of 60.00. It's till sitting in my desk drawer. The one time I did take a chance and disable my built-in firewall, I got all kinds of viruses. Did the 07 version fix this prob?
